Singer Salman Ahmed released after brief detention
Singer Salman Ahmed was released after a brief detention in Islamabad on Friday.
The singer was arrested while he was on his way to visit Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan. According to Express News, the singer was arrested from outside Imranâ€™s Bani Gala residence.
Video footage showed the singer being dragged by Islamabad police into a police van. The singer was heard questioning Islamabad police as to why he was being arrested. â€œWhat law have I violated,â€ he asked.
Moments before his arrest, Ahmed tweeted, â€œGetting ready for Jazba Junoon.â€
Later talking to reporters, Ahmad said, â€œThey were dragging me inside the police vanâ€¦If they can do this to someone of my statureâ€¦ what will they do to a layman?â€
He added, â€œThe flood [workers] which is coming to Islamabad on Nov 2 will drown them [government]â€.
Earlier during the day, Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid claimed Rawalpindi police arrested hisÂ driver and guard.

The arrest comes as PTI and AML workers clashed with police at Rawalpindiâ€™s Committee Chowk near Lal Haveli.
Police fired teargas shells at Committee Chowk to disperse the party workers from gathering following the imposition of Section 144 in the twin cities.
Law enforcers laid siege to the Bani Gala late Thursday night hours after a crackdown was launched against PTI supporters. The opposition party responded by announcing nationwide protests against what it called â€˜terrorismâ€™ of the government.
