- Brussels and Europe has been shaken by the back to back bomb blasts in Brussels airport and metro station in which more than thirty people have been killed whereas a number of people are still seriously injured.
Many people have been killed or seriously injured in terrorist blasts at Brussels international airport and a city metro station, Belgium’s PM says.
According to the details first two attacks took place in the Zayantem airport at 8 o clock morning local time.
An hour later, an explosion hit Maelbeek metro station in which a number of people dead and injured. Meanwhile the airport and whole transport system are closed and all the flights to be reach at airport have been diverted to the othe European airports.
The attacks come four days after Salah Abdeslam, the main fugitive in the Paris attacks, was seized in Brussels.
Belgium has now raised its terror threat to its highest level.
Prime Minister Charles Michel called the attacks “blind, violent and cowardly”, saying they were a “tragic moment in our country’s history. I would like to call on everyone to show calmness and solidarity”.
The Belgian prosecutor said it was “probably a suicide bomber” who struck the airport.
